Therapy for Teens

Why does it seem like life is so much easier for other people?

We compare our lives to  Instagram and Snapchat. It’s easy to feel not good enough, smart enough, or cool enough.

Our mind isn’t always our friend.

It’s a jerk at the worst time. And it makes us feel like we are broken, defective and useless.

There is so much to do: school, friends, relationships, teams, and clubs. There is so much focus on getting into the right school. Lots of pressure and so little time.

Make Power-Filled Choices

In therapy, we learn about how to deal with ourselves, including where self-esteem comes from and how it’s in our hands. And then we focus on power-filled choices that help to understand how to deal with the struggles we find in life.

We discover a way to deal with the frustrating, annoying, hurtful, terrible, and bad way we feel when life takes a wrong turn. We also learn to deal with our mind when it thinks too much and evaluates and judges everything we do, making us feel dumb and insecure. We learn to heal our heart when it breaks.

In therapy, we learn to be in the driver’s seat of our lives.

You Can Learn To Be More

A Note for Parents

It’s hard to be a teen now. It was hard when you were a teen. It’s just different.

The pressures are different and amplified with social media. In a world in which everything is bigger because of brain chemicals and social media, teens go into crisis mode. They react often with what seems like problem behavior; i.e., anger, anxiety, acting out, sexual promiscuity, withdrawal, alcohol and drug use, poor academic performance, and so on.

Often adults in their lives start relating to the behavior rather than the person. Parents feel increasingly distant and confused. Often teens will have trouble telling the adults in their lives what’s really going on. It’s not that they don’t want to tell them. It’s that they don’t know how.

That’s where I come in. Teens need to learn how to deal with these pressures and their reactions to them. I am passionate about serving as a translator between the worlds of teens and parents. They really need you even though it may not feel like it.

The teen years are some of the most vital for a healthy life. I work hard to empower teens to learn to make good decisions and keep themselves healthy and happy.
